About Me

My names are Johnstone Odukhula Oduori.
I was born in a family of nine in the rural western part of kenya. I really treasured my my parents who were peasant farmers and struggled a lot to educate me from the proceeds they got by tilling the small farm mostly in harsh weather.
I struggled a lot in my education and after my o-levels I went to a teachers college to do P1 course but dropped out due to fees.I left for Nairobi where I worked as a gardener and gatekeeper as I raised fees to go to college.
I managed to take a clerical course which later enabled me to work with insurance.
I proceeded to take an insurance examination and later on managed to join university.
Out of campus I have been able to form an organization that trains/capacity builds youth and women in life skills to face the challenges in life.
Thank you.

My Business

Besides selling insurance,I am giving back to the community via providing trainings/capacity building youth and women in micro business management, group formations, proposal writing and fund raising.
my market is mainly religious institutions, registered Community based organizations etc.
I charge them a small fee for the trainings to help buy training materials and hire of tools.
Currently there is minimal competition as the market is so big and the need for training great.
The risk is that at times some groups have no income to pay for the training fee and others default totally.

Loan Proposal

This second loan should the zidisha team favor me again, will go towards registration of my youth in development agenda (YIDA) organization so that i will be able to apply for government and corporate tenders in capacity building and offering of consultancy services. The first loan enabled me build personal capacity as i was able to source training materials well in advance hence not inconviniencing my clientele.
As for now I train alot in schools and at community level, now with the introduction of uwezo fund to finance youth projects; my organization is positioning itself towards offering consultancy services to youth groups via trainings and helping them develop sustainable project ideas and proposals.
I neeed to be a registerd entity to do this and thats why am requesting for this loan, it will enable me make my community a better place with happier self reliant people.thank you.
