About Me

I am Martin Ochuodho, a male Kenyan citizen aged 39 years old, married with two children and pursuing an early childhood education teaching course on a part time basis when the schools are in recess. I was born in 1978 as the 5th born in a family of seven children.

I grew up as a partial orphan after the death of my father. We were left alone with my mother when my father died. My mother did not have any steady source of income and this really complicated my early childhood life. I struggled through my education and did my final high school exams in 2010.. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree programme in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) which is a response to the need to have appropriately trained Educators in Early Childhood in my community.

My Business

My Business
My business involve teaching little children aged 3 - 11. I also help in the school as a classroom teacher. The school business is good since the community appreciates our work and they are very co-operative. I started the school business after I noticed the need in community as little pupils were working long distance to seek education from the neighborhood public schools. I am raising loan to enable me complete my college education through the profit gotten so that I can become a professional teacher. Here in Kenya running a school needs a lot of capital especially at the start up level. This loan will make my school increase its profit by 90%.

Loan Proposal

This loan will help me pay the tuition fees, since l joined Maseno University Homa Bay campus to further my studies.
As I run Early Child Education school the $300 will play a great role in delivery of quality education to this young Kenyans. I do attend evening classes after work.
When fully funded I will use $9847 and the profit gotten to upgrade feeding program in this school. This will benefit little pupils since they will not walk long distance back home for lunch. The 90% profit increase will also help in loan repayment, thus making it on time.
Thanks for your generosity.

How've you been Martin? Have things felt a little better since heading back to the school? Let us know how you're doing :-)

If it would help, Zidisha staff can likely lower your repayment amount, & restructure your loan so you can just pick it up from here? Just pop them a msg & ask for some help :-) www.zidisha.org/forum-threa...

Wishing you all the best, Emma from Australia.

With the initial loan of $260, I bought learning materials at $190 and the children are now happy learning using new stationery, modelling clay and charts. The purchase of new charts has increased pupils’ morale and encouraged parents to be more responsible in paying the school fee on time which has helped to raise enough money to pay teachers salary. Our earning has increased by 90% over the year 2017. The increased earnings have been used to pay teachers, buy chalk for use in the classrooms and partly pay my college fees at $70.
Once again be blessed for your generosity!

It is historic here in Kenya as we are now led by two presidents. Hon. Raila Odinga the opposition leader has been sworn in as the people's president, this coming after Uhuru Kenyatta took oath of office.
