About Me

My name is Jane kuria. I am a mother of two boys named David and Andrew. They are aged 7 and 5 years old respectively. I live in Nyeri county in the middle of Kenya. It is at the slopes of Mt. Kenya. The main economic activity here is farming. There is tea and coffee cash crops too. I come from a family of ten. Parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

My Business

I own a small pub in Karatina in Nyeri town. It is a rural part of the country and the pub does not make much as farmers are busy people. It is a place for farmers to relax after work. Revenue is about US 400 dollars every month. I am also assisting my mother in farming as she is not able now at her age.

Loan Proposal

Hi Lenders,

The planting season is here. I am applying for a loan of $550 to plant maize and beans in my mother's farm. My mother is 77 years old. She is not able to farm any more. Maize and beans are our staple food. They always fetch a good price whether they are sold green or dry. The loan will go into buying the seeds, fertilizer and paying the workers who will be planting.

REPAYMENT
I will use the proceed from the pub business to pay off the loan initially. The beans take 3 months to harvest. I will be able to pay off the rest of the loan by end of July 2018.
By the end of October I will harvest maize and share the proceeds with my mother. The farm is about 2 acres in size. The expected profit from selling the maize and beans is about $ 900. I hope that you will be able to fund the loan.
