About Me

My name is Timothy Kimani, a Kenyan born in Muranga county of central Kenya. I was born in a family of 8 where I am the 6th born. My parents are peasant farmers who struggled to raise us up and put us through school. I later moved to Mombasa to look for a job.

I married ten years ago but unfortunately my wife passed on during the delivery of our second born. Luckily the baby survived and he is now turning 5 years in December this year. I take care of the two kids on my own and sometimes get help from my sisters when they get time to do so.

I work very hard in my business while at the same time looking after the little ones.

My Business

I am a music producer and my niche is local gospel artistes. My mainstay job is to sell and market the music of these artistes. I also do consultancy jobs in the same field due to my long experience and knowledge in this area. I also do artwork for the CD covers and promotional posters and banners.

I normally link up with music recorders who refer the musicians to my shop where I do mass duplications of their CDs. VCDs and DVDs. I am currently serving about 40 artistes. This is an all season business and there is a constant flow of income daily. I make an average income of about $250 after paying all the business related bills.

My main challenge in this business is lack of credit since the local institutions only deals with big business as they consider small outfits such as mine a risk.

Loan Proposal

As mentioned earlier, I shifted to chicken farming last year after I was involved in a grisly road accident that made it very difficult to continue with my music business. I had to relocate to my rural home since life there is not as strenuous as in the city. I have managed the transition smoothly and I have started to reap the fruits of my labor since the chickens are now laying eggs which I am selling in the neighborhood.

However, I have some challenges like lack of capital to build a modern coop and also buy high quality chicken feed which will increase production.

Income Source

My business is quite safe from the prevailing covid-19 situation. I sell my produce in the neighborhood and being in a rural set-up, it is largely business as usual and I expect my revenue streams to continue flowing.

It's unfortunate that I have not been up to date in my payments. I had an accident in February and got both ankle fluctuates. When I was taking the loan, I had a running poultry project that I was intending to expand and sustain me and the family. The market was not fair to me and chicken feeds price became un bearable. I have been depending on my wife small salary and well wishers even to put food on the table. Schools are closing and I have not even paid the fee's. They have been in school by God's grace. Please give me two to three months . I will reorganise my self afresh since now I can walk on clutches. I promise to be paying the amount I get

I invested the last loan in my music business. It helped me a great deal since I was able to buy more machines and this contributed to rapid growth of this business. Unfortunately, I was involved in a grisly road accident last year and I have been on a wheelchair since then. I had to move from the city to my rural home where I am now practicing chicken farming.
