About Me

I was born and raised in Lantey George, Labadi. I have three brothers. My father is a Pastor. And my mother a trader formerly selling satchet water and a local dish called kenkey. I completed my Junior High School at La Enobar school. Due to financial challenges my parents were unable to send me to a Senior High School.
I decided to join the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association(GHABA) where I entered a one year training school to train as a Hairdresser and makeup stylist.
I later met my Husband with whom I have three children. Two girls and a boy.

My Business

I am a fully certified Hairdresser and Beautician. Since graduating from school. I established my own business, 'Roses Salon'. The main services I provide are hair washing, drying, hair relaxing, braiding, weave on, pedicure and nails. And selling of wigs.
Ghanaian women from all backgrounds rich or poor identify with their hair. It is cultural. People wish to prepare for parties, engagements, weddings, funerals, social events. I chose hairdressing because I had a passion to work in the beauty industry. I saw that it can be both a rewarding and profitable venture. I wanted to be my own boss, to train others and certify them. So they could establish themselves to earn a living.
washing can cost from Ghc 5($1). Braiding from Ghc 10($2) weave onGhc20($4-5)
wigs can be sold from Ghc20($4-5).
I must maintain a stock of shampoo, conditioners and hairspray etc.
Work has periods of a slow flow of customers to very busy, especially around the christmas holidays. Weekends tend to be busier than weekdays. During the week people start to come in during the evening. It is not uncommon for me to leave my shop sometimes till after 10pm or 11pm in the evening.
I can earn anything from Ghc10-70 ($2-14)or more a day. If I am catering for engagements and weddings where I am called out I can charge from Ghc150($35)depending on what the client wants.
My profits are used to pay my electricity bill at the salon. Reinvest to purchase products which are getting finished. Supporting my family at homewith food items, the childrens money for school. Things to maitain the household, mosquito spray, washing products. General house upkeep.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders my loan will be used to purchase more towels for hair drying after washing. .Each towel can cost on average $2-4. My current stock are become old. Towels must be clean to let customers to feel comfortable.

I took a loan for GHC45 which i had to make 3 repayments of GHC15 each. The loan was not paid on time, so have remained at GHc45 for subsequent 2 loans loans I've taken as they were repaid late. The last loan of Ghc45 I took was repaid on the 18th January(My first payment was the old way of payment to 0548418954 on 1st December. 2nd payment on the 8th December through the new online payment and the third was done on the old 0548418954. Two of those three payments did not go through and was requested to make another payment of GHC30. January 31st i received an email that i could retrieve those monies through MTN reversal. I went and they printed out my statement.Only two payments were reflecting? And i was able to retrive even one of the two payments.) December 8th i posted that i had received GHC37.
Since then I have been asked to apply for a new loan which I did but was not funded. Of which i received an email to that effect on the 1st February. How can I apply for loan if the last one is still not repaid? I received my first CRB final notice on 25th February, for a balance of GHC37? Then the next one on the 4th March and the last one on the 11th March.
My next loan amount is supposed to be GHC65?
I will got to MTN again. They have given me 18th March deadline to make payment.

Lenders cannot assist with anything administrative. Like borrowers, we merely create an account on the platform (in our case, to upload funds to help borrowers, which the Zidisha Team Staff then manages; currently the Zidisha Team Staff consists of just two (2) people: www.zidisha.org/team - to contact them privately, send a message through the HELP link in your account).

The Zidisha Team Staff is the intermediary between the borrowers and the lenders, and only they can help you with anything administrative.

Dear lenders my previous loan has allowed to to store adequate amounts of water. Water flow from the pipe is not always a certainty. And when not available means I can't provide the most common service I offer is washing of hair. It has made a big difference. I will not need to travel far to purchase water by the gallon, saving me money that can be used elsewhere. Thank you.
