About Me

My names are John Muriu Njuguna, a Kenyan citizen identification number 22535873. I was born on 10th February 1980 at Kandutura village Rongai Township in Nakuru County. I am married with one wife and blessed with three children. I went to Thirandu primary school and later Mama Ngina Kenyatta Secondary school, both in Rongai Township. I did not go beyond secondary school.
Later in life I moved to Gilgil Township with my family where I am currently settled. I am running a Boda boda business. Boda boda is a corrupted word for border and was a very lucrative business at the Uganda-Kenya border in the past. It involved bicycle transport. With time, the trend has steadily spread to other areas of the country and has evolved to include motor cycle transport.
Mine is a motor cycle and it is my livelihood. It has been sustaining me for five years now and I love it with all my heart.

My Business

I own one motor cycle; a kingbird. On average I make Ksh 1,000 per day which translates to Ksh 30,000 per month. The fuel is approximately Ksh 300 per day translating to about Ksh 9,000 per month. Maintenance is about Ksh 2,000. The maintenance is low due to the fact that Gilgil and its environs are covered in tarmac and therefore the roads well maintained. This poses little or no damage to the motorcycle. Occasionally, I buy new tyres and tubes at an average cost of Ksh 5,000. I replace the tyres and tubes after every six months. Therefore, I am left with an average income of Ksh 15,000 per month.
My motor cycle, a King Bird is a powerful machine that is able to cover long distances within a short time. It can also carry a lot of luggage. Therefore, customers prefer it to the other makes

Loan Proposal

This is the planting season and a lot of people are involved in farming. I intend to do the same. I want to get involved in farming to supplement the income that I get from my boda boda business. The loan that I have applied for is sufficient to plough one acre under maize and beans. The produce that will come from farming will enable me expand my boda boda business by buying another motor cycle.
