About Me

I am the second born son in a family of four. My younger two siblings are girls whom we used to cook for with my older brother as our parents went to work.
I was brought up in a tiny village Central Kenya, Mount Kenya region.I started basic education in a local school and cotinued to primary education. As young boys i recall as we went swimming in a river that flows down deep ridges and our parents got worried very much.
Later i went to Thika town for my secondary education at Thika High School.
Later i went to study Aircraft Maintenance course in our city Nairobi at Wilson Airport and got a certificate in engine & airframe. While there i also studied Electrical science. I got employment in a local maintenance firm that later collapsed. From there i started vending fresh vegetables at Wangige Market near our city Nairobi.
At Nairobi life wasn't easy at all. At some point i decided to live in the slums because good rooms were so expensive to rent. So i moved to Dandora slums. I even went a step further to walking half distance to work and half by bus to save some cash.
In early year 2015 i felt it was time to be an entrepreneur because i was still struggling for my needs. I had enough skills so retreated back to the village where my Mum gave me a small room to establish a workshop at home. Life was so hard trying to establish myself until ZIDISHA came to my rescue where i got a loan to rent a big workshop in our local shopping center where i have grown steadly. Thanks to all Lenders.
Every year i pay 70 USD to our local county authority for business licence and a monthly rent of 70 USD. I also pay 170 USD per week to wages of my employees.
I do re-invest my profits in my business, support to my parents and my siblings, also community projects contributions and also buying construction materials for a rental house i keep on developing and adding more units. I also support two elderly women who are about 100 yrs old by visiting them regularly. Of late am also supporting an old Man, a war Veteran through food stuff. I love caring for the needy.

My Business

My business operates under the name Jaycobs Electric & Building Services. I operate a workshop and a sales section where we sell electrical fittings, lightings, conduits, electronics repair, and offer consultations.
In the workshop we do electrical and electronics repair, mechanical repairs and installations.
In average we make a monthly profit of 700 to 900 USD.

Loan Proposal

It has been more than one year and a few months now since i relocated my home based workshop to a good site where sales and services increased very well and I have been able to grow. I can remember all this came true through my second Zidisha loan.
When i took my third loan early this year I was able to do inventory in my sales section mainly on assorted installation cables. May i inform you am doing quite fine and growing steadly. Am able to offer satisfactory services to my clients.
I now feel it is time to give my business a new look with an aim of attracting big clients such as Factories and Power lighting companies, High schools and many more.
I have made several preparations into this, for example prepared drafts to print Letter Heads bearing my business name on Cash Sale Receipts, Delivery Notes, Invoice book, Quotation Forms and Job Sheets. All these will transform my business to have a new look and an executive one if I may say.
On the other hand am to give my workshop section a new arrangement so that am able to handle more repairs and maintenance because clients have increased with time. Am also to add a storage shelf and one more work bench.
Part of the loan will also go to some inventory considering that upcoming factories are installing security warning devices in their premises. Also most schools are replacing the old high watt security lightings to modern L.E.D lights.
Here is how am to allocate my loan;
Shelf and Workbench construction 300 USD
Workshop First Aid Kit 90 USD
Desktop phone 70 USD
Documents Letterheading 75 USD
Workshop research Laptop 380 USD
Instant Showers 10pcs@ 19 usd 190 USD
Security l.e.d lights 10pcs@ 12 usd 120 USD
Security alarms 10pcs@ 7 usd 70 USD
Security strobe lights@ 6 usd 60 USD
Assorted switches 55 USD
Assorted power sockets 70 USD
Assorted conduits and fittings 160 USD

Through this loan i will be able to achieve much in my business and be financial stable to be in a position to construct my own house as i hope to have a wife soon. I will also employ my second assistant in a permanent basis because he only comes three times a week. I have a permanent assistant in my sales section.
Am expecting my profit to increase up to 1000 USD per month.

I am really happy for this far. It hasn't been easy but your support has really boosted my financial status. With the last project I have been able to achieve alot. Am educating my kids in a good school and I have also managed to acquire a business car to ease my movements during field services and installations.
Infact am now wishing to give a group of youths some of my skills on electrical installations, electronics and plumbing.
    Thanks to you all.
