About Me

My name is Jane kuria. I am a mother of two boys named David and Andrew. They are aged 7 and 5 years old respectively. I live in Nyeri county in the middle of Kenya. It is at the slopes of Mt. Kenya. The main economic activity here is farming. There is tea and coffee cash crops too. I come from a family of ten. Parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

My Business

I own a small pub in Karatina in Nyeri town. It is a rural part of the country and the pub does not make much as farmers are busy people. It is a place for farmers to relax after work. Revenue is about US 400 dollars every month. I am also assisting my mother in farming as she is not able now at her age.

Loan Proposal

i would like to purchase a pool table that cost 250 Us dollars. I have saved part of the money. The pool table will improve income. it is paid 20 cents a game. It will improve my income by about 100 US dollar that I can put towards improving the lives of my children. later I plan to buy other gaming machines that will also improve income.

Thank you for lending me money for my previous projects. I have however cancelled the loan for dairy farming appearing on my profile due to high costs of the loan. Thank you to the lenders who very quickly financed my last loan.

With the money, I was able to venture into vegetable farming which is an ongoing project. Though initially slow and with several mistakes at the beginning, buyers who had earlier promised to take up my products failed to meet the agreed prices when the products ready, I continue with the farming and with the lessons learnt becoming an expert in it.

I am also able to feed my family with fully organic vegetables grown right in our farm, and by so doing not only cutting our food expenses but eating healthier as well.

This is the instalment amount that I am able to afford KES 500. It is very dry weather at the moment. Water for irrigation is reduced and so are the vegetables.

Hi Lender,

Thank you for the loan you gave me to plant organic vegetables. I did put the money to good use and I have been able to plant a section of the farm. Unfortunately a large part is still left. I received a loan of $340 after deductions and was required to repay it in 6 weeks at about $50. The vegetables take about 8 weeks to mature. So to avoid defaulting I had to put some of that money into repaying the loan. I have learned a lot and the next phase should be easier to implement.
