About Me

I am from the Kikuyu tribe of Abantu, notorious for their knack of making money! I am married with two lovely children, I'm the second child of four siblings, and i grew up in Rongai- Kenya with my parents. I attended Daystar University to do a B.A. in Communication. I have also done computer packages, switchboard operations, networking, hardware/software courses, and armed with these and secretarial/typing skills i gained from a high school course i had done, I set out to find work. Luckily i did, and I have been working there for over seven years.

Financial growth has been challenging and that is why I now want to venture into Online Freelancing.

My Business

My business, simply put, is online transcription, which I commenced in May 2015. I have a day time job where I’m an Admin/HR assistant, but when I get home, after settling my family in terms of dinner and other family obligations, I set down to do my transcription work on TranscribeMe.com website, where I type away until the wee hours, to make an extra income. I do it part time during the week, but put in more hours over the weekends. I also do it during my break times at work. The income I make online, through Paypal, has proved quite substantial in supplementing my income to meet my day to day needs, and also save for the future of my family. It is also worth mentioning that since I’m paid in dollars, and the US dollar- Kenya shilling rate is currently high, it translates to more income, and is quite motivational. This has been made possible only through help from the loans I’ve received from Zidisha. I’m currently trying to diverse to other online platforms for more work, as I gain more experience.

Loan Proposal

I humbly request for further funding for my module two of my on-going diploma course at College of Human Resource Management. I have recently completed the first Module of my course and passed my exams with flying colors.

My second module starts next week. Kindly assist me with the finances to enable me complete my course. Your financial assistance will be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful 13 member-funders who have helped fund my project. I'll now be able to buy a new laptop and increase my weekly income, take care of my family's needs and also save up to hopefully help other members too. I'm so very grateful. Thank you.

To my wonderful backers, thank you so very much for the financial backing that was accorded to me during my last project(s). I have since been able to successfully launch my online freelancing career and grow meaningfully, using the equipment that I purchased with the funds. I was able to have a reliable WiFi connection installed at my house (This included purchase of the router and network cabling, and also paid for a couple months' worth of subscriptions to ensure that I had no interruptions to my work. I also managed to get great noise-cancellation headphones and foot pedal for ease of my work too. I have since grown so much and all this would not have been possible without my backers. Again, I humbly thank them and wish them the very best in their own endeavors.

I'd like to thank my lenders very much for the loan that I got, which I successfully cleared. It assisted me in the Module 1 part of my course. I have attached some results I got from recent exams I did. I am happy to report that I have been fairing well in my studies. Thank you so much, I wouldn't have gotten off to such a great start without your continuous support.

To my esteemed lenders, just to let you know that I received the loan of Kshs. 20,800/= on Friday, 14/08/2015, with so, so much gratitude. I now have been able to make arrangements for fee payments to CHRM (College of Human Resource Management) diploma course here in Nairobi. I will, in the coming weeks, update you on the on-goings (with photos where possible) as I prepare to commence my studies second week of September. Once again I most sincerely thank you for granting me the loan, which will go a long way in securing my future and that of my family. Be blessed.

Greetings to my lenders! I'm in awe and extremely grateful for the kind consideration you have accorded me in granting me this loan. Now beginning of September, exactly on 8th September 2015, I can start my course in Human Resource Management, that will start my journey towards heading the HR department at the company I currently work for. This would not be possible were it not for your help in granting me this loan. I will do my very best to get the best grades needed to successfully complete my diploma. Once again, thank you very, very much. May you , my lenders, never lack for your own endeavors, and may you LIVE LONG!

Oh Laurie, sorry for that experience with the huge debt from your significant other:( I can just imagine how frustrating that must have been, and how it must've slowed down your growth, and for so long. But I'm glad you came out of it strong and that now you're able to extend a hand to me and others who really need it, to avoid that path. Thank you Laurie, really.

As earlier updated, I managed to complete my work set up of a desk and comfortable chair for my transcription work, which has enabled me to work through the wee hours when work is available, averaging 50-60 dollars a week, up from 20-30 dollars before I acquired them. This extra income has gone a long way in stabilizing my income, especially in ensuring that I am now able to put something small away for the children's future and for emergencies. This would not have been possible had it not been for your much needed help, my lenders. Once again, thank you very much. I’m very grateful, and as you graciously give, may you also graciously receive for your own endeavors.

Today I just want to express my gratitude to my lenders again for granting me the funds I needed for my work table and comfortable chair, which is so important for transcription work. I finally got my comfortable chair too, and now I can work late into the wee hours, without having any back issues. I'm also proud to write that I've been recommended to do Quality Assurance (QA) on TranscribeMe website where I do my transcription work, which is a higher rank, as I get to edit the work of other transcribers. This only comes after accurate work is produced by a transcriber. I stand to earn even more on this. I'm currently taking the exams then I can start off. Thank you my lenders for walking with me throughout this journey. I started off without a laptop, internet connection, no equipment, but now thanks to you, I have all this in place, which has made a huge difference in my life. As I wind up with paying this loan this weekend, I can't help but be super grateful to you. Be blessed.
